Another Cancer as a Turning Point conference is now a memory in the minds and hearts of over 500 people. The Healing Journeys mission was accomplished: to support healing, activate hope, and promote thriving. New connections were made and old ones renewed. There were a couple of people there who attended our first conference in 1994 and were given a short prognosis then. How inspiring that they are still thriving. Here are several comments from participants:

  • A wonderful, joy-filled experience. It was so inspiring as well as a great learning experience. Such a loving community of compassionate beings. Thank you so much! It was excellent!!
  • This was an amazing experience for me – It touched me mentally, spiritually and physically. I loved all the laughter. The conference ran very smoothly – hats off to all the organizers. Kudos! Jonna has “the Gift.” Fabulous beyond words.
  • I didn’t know a harp could play cheerful music – jazz as well as quiet, soothing music. On Saturday the only way I could describe what my body felt was that my heart was singing along with the music. Oh my!

I’d like to multiply the effect of the conference by making some of the presentations available to everyone. The conference was videotaped and I am hoping to post some of the talks on YouTube, or create DVDs that can be sent to cancer support groups. All of this requires funding. If you want to help share this information and inspiration with others, please donate on our safe and secure website here.

We are pleased to be able to offer some other ways for you to experience some of the magic of four of our presenters:

Lise Alschuler, NP, shared with us her “Five to Thrive” plan, and is offering an opportunity for all of us to learn more about it. See her offer in News, below.

To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we were gifted with Hope, Faith, and Transformation, a Guided Imagery CD that Emmett Miller, MD; Susan Mazer, harpist; and Dallas Smith, woodwind musician, made especially for Healing Journeys. The sales price of $15 ($10 conference special plus $5 for shipping and handling) is a great value for four powerful guided imagery cuts. You can order your copy here.

Julie Interrante, MA, is offering a one-day workshop in Sacramento, called Love Me Tender, a chance to explore what it means to love one’s self in the midst of illness and how to cultivate tenderness in the midst of fear. Julie was one of the favorite presenters at the conference and this is a great opportunity to spend a day with her humor, compassion, and wisdom. Early Bird registration price ends September 20th. You can register here.

Jonathan Ellerby, PhD is offering a retreat in Sonoma, CA November 22nd to 24th: Transformation from Within. I hope you can take advantage of this chance to relax into the inner life that nourishes your heart and restores your soul. Organic food, beautiful nature, Jonathan’s wisdom and humor, live music by Susan Mazer and Dallas Smith, and like-minded souls to share it with. What a combination. The Early Bird registration price for the retreat has been extended to September 22nd. You can register here.

People ask if I am basking in the success of the conference, and I am; but there is also an element of sadness. When one works long and hard toward a goal, there is always some sadness when the event happens and you no longer have that goal. I’m glad I still have Julie and Jonathan’s events to look forward to.

As always, I welcome your comments; to reply please click here.
