David
Bailey's story
is one of tenacious
faith and gentle
passion. On July
4, 1996, doctors
told David he had
a malignant brain
tumor and would be
dead by Christmas.
He left his corporate
career and returned
to his first love
of songwriting and
performing, with
a goal of sharing
the hope on which
his life depended.
Eight years, nine
albums, 39 states
and hundreds of concerts
later, David, his
songs, and his passions
are alive and well.
David’s songs
are reminiscent of
folk legends like
Jim Croce and Cat
Stevens, though he
also points to the
work of Kahlil Gibran
and J.S. Bach as
being influential
in his writing. Strong
melodies and intricate
finger picking set
a perfect backdrop
for his warm baritone
as he delivers keen
and witty insights
about his favorite
topics: time, faith,
hope, love, and dreams.
His story has been
featured on CBS News/48
Hours, 60 Minutes,
Fox/Health, Family
Health channel, and
NPR. David challenges
all of us to live
passionately and
to treasure the beauty
of each new day. |

Russ
Burns is
a retired public
school educator
living in Laurens,
South Carolina,
where he and
his wife now
operate a family
farm and he
does a bit of
science writing. In
1998, Russ fell
victim to cancer. Because
the cancer had
spread widely,
he was given
six months to
live by his
doctors. Rather
than give up,
he embarked
on a journey
through a variety
of treatments,
and is essentially
cancer-free
today. In
the hope of
helping others
with cancer,
Russ often speaks
to support groups
and offers counseling
to those seeking
options in their
cancer treatment. He
is currently
researching
and writing
a book about
complementary
treatments for
cancer, most
of which he
employed successfully
during his years
of dealing with

Scott
Burton helps
survivors
see the
human side
of the
cancer
battle.
Getting
bogged
down by
medicine,
statistics
and fear,
survivors
sometimes
forget
that their
lives are
still present,
vital and
precious. To
get his
point across,
Scott uses
his best
tool, humor. A
stand-up
comic and
world class
juggler,
Scott has
worked
with Jay
Leno and
Jerry Seinfeld,
as well
as writing
for prime-time
television. He
tells the
tale of
his cancer
battle
with humanity,
refreshing
honesty
and an
engaging
comic sense. His
audience
soon sees
that his
is not
a story
about cancer.
It is the
story of
life. The
gift of
laughter,
Scott believes,
helps cancer
survivors
feel normal
and see
their lives
as precious. "I
felt, and
still do,
that each
moment
laughing
is a moment
you are
- if only
for a second
- in love
with life." When
Scott Burton
tells his
story,
nobody
cries. They
laugh like
they never
thought
they would. |

unusual but
surprisingly
universal situations
