Beth Baker is a versatile vocalist who first honed her musical talent in the San Francisco Bay Area's pop, musical theater, and concert scenes before packing up her impressive voice and moving to New York. She played to sold-out cabaret houses for three years until returning to the West Coast to help care for her father who had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The San Francisco Chronicle once proclaimed, "Baker at full throttle is an inspiring thing to behold," while Dr. Kirby Shaw, a world-renowned choral arranger warned an audience prior to a show in which Beth would sing a rafter-raising gospel solo, "I guarantee your DNA will be rearranged when Beth Baker sings tonight." She is rapidly becoming a favorite opening act at The Britt Festivals, southern Oregon’s famed summer outdoor music fest. Jean Shinoda Bolen, M.D. is a psychiatrist, Jungian analyst, clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California San Francisco, a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the 2002 recipient of the Institute for Health and Healing’s “Pioneers in Arts, Sciences, and the Soul of Healing Award”. Huixian Chen was a highly respected English Professor at the University of International Business and Economics in China in 1982 when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given a 25% chance of recovery. In search of a cure, Professor Chen was introduced to Qigong After her remarkable recovery, Professor Chen became a devoted practitioner and has dedicated her life to teaching Qigong. She studied with the most famous Qigong masters in China and has taught Qigong to thousands of people in China, the US, and Europe. From 1993 to 2001, Professor Chen was the director of the Qigong program at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon. She continues to work to help people heal themselves, increase vitality, and quicken spiritual growth. Suzanne Grace had a distinguished 20 year career in the performing arts as a professional dancer, choreographer, teacher and artistic director of her own dance company, based in St. Louis, MO.  She now devotes her talents to the healing arts of yoga, Pilates, bodywork and Shamanic energy work.    She volunteered  as a massage therapist for 4 years at the Charlotte Maxwell Clinic in Oakland  and this past year in Marin County, created and led  a monthly yoga & relaxation retreat for women whose lives had been touched by cancer.  She has taught and performed worldwide, sharing her unique understanding of the wisdom of the body potential, and inspiring all who experience her work to " move with grace." Lois Tschetter Hjelmstad speaker, author, and breast cancer survivor, lives in Englewood, Colorado, where she owned and operated a large music studio for 38 years. She and her husband, Les, have four grown children and twelve grandchildren. Lois has given over 500 presentations throughout North America and England, speaking on Breast Cancer as a Catalyst for Change, The Issues of Intimacy, Writing Our Grief, and related topics. She was featured in Rosie magazine and appeared on The Rosie O’Donnell Show. Lois’ first book, Fine Black Lines: Reflections on Facing Cancer, Fear and Loneliness won awards in Colorado and London. The Last Violet: Mourning My Mother, published in 2002, is Hjelmstad’s sensitive, moving story of one woman’s journey from grief and regret to inner peace. Susan Mazer & Dallas Smith. Susan Mazer, harpist and Dallas Smith, woodwind performer, together since 1984, are most known for their extraordinary sound, which merges the aesthetics of jazz, classical, and world music into an experience that feeds both the intellect and the spirit. After spending the first 20 years of their careers as full-time performing and recording artists, 15 years ago they founded Healing HealthCare Systems (HHS), focusing their efforts on programming specific to the needs of patients and hospital staff members. Today, Susan and Dallas are acknowledged pioneers in the use of music as environmental design for healthcare facilities. Wayne Muller is a therapist, public speaker, minister, and author of Legacy of the Heart, the best-selling book which explores the resilience of the spirit in the face of human sorrow. Tom Mullins was Chief of Public Affairs for the California Office of Emergency Services when his wife of more than 20 years, Attorney and Agricultural Economist Suzanne Vaupel, was unexpectedly diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer in November of 2001. Tom's life changed dramatically when he immediately left his job and became Suzanne's around-the-clock caregiver and co-traveler on the pathway of healing and illness. Suzanne's journey ended when she died in a Los Angeles hospital in January, 2003 -14 months after her diagnosis. Tom will share the experiences and insights, both joyful and tearful, that he gained as a caregiver and as the surviving partner in a long and loving relationship.

Sacramento Taiko Dan is a community based non-profit organization, formed in 1989 by a group of people who wanted to study the art of Taiko. The multi-cultural group, comprised of members ranging in age from 9 years old to over 70, is directed by Tiffany Tamaribuchi, a former performing member and current guest artist of the prestigious San Francisco Taiko Dojo. Tiffany has traveled extensively throughout Japan to study with several Taiko groups, including the world renowned Taiko group, Kodo. The word TAIKO means “big drum”. It is the word commonly used to describe the art of Japanese drumming, used for healing and religious ceremonies and once an integral part of Japanese life. Sista Monica Parker is a new member of the board of directors of Healing Journeys. She is also an international recording & touring artist, vocalist, songwriter and record producer. Her 6 th CD “Love, Soul & Spirit” Vol. I. was released May, 2004. Monica has written and arranged new music that reflects a softer, gentler, inner peace after her battle with a rare form of cancer, Synovial Sarcoma, diagnosed in January 2003. Treated at UCSF, she has survived aggressive chemotherapy, two major surgeries and high dosages of radiation treatments. This “Love, Soul & Spirit” vol. I CD covers some of her favorite Jazz standards, contemporary and traditional Gospel and inspirational music, presenting a new acoustic sound and musical ministry of faith, hope and courage. Elizabeth Stock-Gonzalez, RN was diagnosed with Stage III Brain Cancer in March 2000.  She was a Nurse Manager in the Managed Care Department of a major medical center, and is no longer able to work.  She is a single mother of three daughters, Chelsea, Hannah and Sierra.  After a craniotomy, radiation, 2 years of chemotherapy, and multiple complementary therapies, she today leads a full life.  She is the founder and facilitator of a Brain Cancer Support Group that meets every 4 – 6 weeks, in the intimate setting of her home.  She believes her faith, belief in the importance of her participation in her healing, and a fierce determination to raise her daughters has brought her this far. Jeanne Wallace, PhD, CNC is an authority in integrative cancer care: educating cancer patients and their health-care providers about evidence-based dietary, nutritional and botanical support to complement conventional oncology care. She received her PhD in Nutrition in 1998. She specializes in primary, malignant brain tumors, and also has extensive experience working with clients with other cancers. She is the author of numerous articles, is on the Editorial Board of Integrative Cancer Therapies..
