Innovative Theories and Practices of Psychosocial Support
General Objectives
Innovative Theories and Practices of Psychosocial Support
| In this two-day conference, four nationally recognized psychosocial support experts will present the concepts and techniques of their craft, and include experiential practice for attendees. |
PURPOSE
The purpose of this conference is to provide the healthcare provider with skills that will ease the suffering of people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, as well as their caregivers.
Standard medical care can shrink tumors or relieve symptoms, but doesn’t formally address the emotional injuries resulting from the disease and its treatments. This conference will present concepts and techniques useful in treating people’s fear, anxiety, despair, frustration and loneliness—in short, their suffering.
The conference will also explore caregiver’s suffering and the prevention of burnout.
